We’re huge fans of Berks County Living Magazine, so we were delighted to have the chance to sit down with its editor, Kristin Kramer, to learn more about the inner workings of the magazine and their plans for upcoming issues.

Much like Berks.TV, the magazine strives to highlight the community’s positive virtues.

“There are so many things in the works that are bettering downtown Reading and the surrounding county, and I think it’s an exciting time to live in Berks County,” she said. “I often hear from people saying that there’s nothing to do here, and that’s just not true.”

The approach is definitely working; the magazine recently expanded to a monthly publishing schedule.

We’re checking the mailbox every day for the February issue highlighting local spas. 🙂

Berks County, PA has a long history of pioneering interactive media, with Berks Community Television at the forefront in engaging people in a dialogue about their community.

The annual Community Conversations series on BCTV launches January 16 (check out the programming schedule), with topics to include health care, crime, immigration, education, and arts and entertainment. We sat down with Executive Director Ann Sheehan to talk about the series.

“One of the things that really makes BCTV programming better is when there’s a lot of participation by home viewers, so we hope that people will participate either by phone or by email and take part in the conversation,” she said.

This year for the first time, viewers will be able to Instant Message their comments and questions. Very slick!

After she interviewed us for an appearance on Comcast Tonight last week, we couldn’t resist asking producer/host Janelle Wolfe a few questions of our own. You can tell she loves what she does – a path that very much parallels our own at Berks.TV: web research, meeting and interviewing new and interesting people from the region, and generally pursuing her own destiny. What is the Syracuse-educated, world-travelling journalist doing back working in her native Berks County? What web sites can’t this self-declared entertainment junkie live without? You’ll have to watch this clip to find out.
